Dear Dr. Lederberg,

Last fall I completed my Ph.D, in social and physiological psychology
at Columbia University. I am now Assistant Professor of Medical Psychology
at USUHS.

I remember so well that when I was trying to help you discover the
extent of Martinus Wilhelm Beijerinck's role in the rediscovery of
Mendel's work, you often spoke of the National Library of Medicine,

IT am now across the street from that library and have already enjoyed
using it.

I am writing to thank you again for the support, encouragement,
and advice which you gave me at Stanford, You generously gave me your
time and consideration. Your behavior and attitude has and will continue
to serve as a guideline for my dealings with students,
