Cc 30 10021 E OF THE PRE Dear Josh, Thank you for your interesting letter of 3 March 1982 just in. I am glad that Grant Reuber is able to join us on the Council. It was news to me that Allen Lambert and Lord Thomson had been on the Council and I wonder if it is wise to go back to them. If they have done their stint there are others who would be very happy to serve I am sure and perhaps we should get you some fresh faces there. I think that one very important person whose ancestors for over a hundred years have helped the McGill University in Montreal is Senator Hartland Molson. He had a very distinguished career in the Air Force with us and has done a great deal to support Lord Mountbatten's ideal in international education of young people, and particularly the Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific at Victoria, B.C. I believe that he owns the Canadiens Hockey Team in Montreal among other things and is a very fine Canadian representative anywhere. He is best addressed at The Senate, Ottawa, Canada. Another slightly younger person who has managed his father's large foundation with great skill is Donald Harvie, Chairman of the Devonian Group of Charities, at 901-10th Avenue South West, Calgary,Alberta. He is a graduate of the University of Alberta and a very sophisticated Chairman of an excellent foundation. On the United Kingdom front you undoubtedly have advisors and they might be in agreement that an extremely important man to have on your Council is Lord Boyd, who was in politics, one of the outstanding Conservative Ministers in Britain in yesteryear, as Lennox Boyd. He is married to one of the Guinness daughters and I suppose has much to do with running their empire. He is best addressed at the House of Lords, or at his country home which is Ince Castle, Saltash, Cornwall, England. Another man which comes to mind is the youthful Duke of Westminster, the scion of the Grosvenor Family. That group now controls 1,000 million pounds in the world so that with ae eel ‘Universities Council of British Columbia, Ste. 500, 805 West Broadway, Vancouver, B.C. JI shall be having dinner with him at Government House in Victoria later this week and will write to you after that time, when I shall have a better idea of his potential interest in such an appointment, without mentioning it of course to him. This goes with warmest regards and I shall hope to see you in late April when I'm down to the American Osler Society in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia. As always, Yours sincerely, William C. Gibson, Chairman D., F.R.C.P.
