Thank you for your phone call. The fusion of bacterial
protoplast and liposomes is mentioned in Chang and Stan's
paper which will be appearing in MGG. They have tried the
method but did not pursue it, since direct treatment of
protoplasts with PEG gave better transformation frequency
with plasmid DNA. The reference for bacterial protoplast
and liposome fusion is:
