As you know, we are very enthusiastic about the possibility of jointly developing humanities programs, and I was delighted to learn that Dr. E.G.D. Cohen and Mr. Richard Dana will be working with Leslie Tuttleton in this area. I was also most interested to learn of the possibilities of sharing resources in a variety of academic disciplines as well as about your new project in the life sciences and public policy analysis. Earlier this year, Dr. Laurence Berlowitz of my staff worked with Mr. Nichols on a proposal to the State for an Einstein Chair. Dr. Berlowitz is perhaps most familiar with our resources in the life sciences as well as about individuals throughout New York University interested in public policy analysis. He, himself, has been exploring the creation of an institute to focus on the urban environment and public policy. I have asked him to review our resources and to brief you and Mr. Nichols at your convenience. We certainly want to be responsive to possible future col- laborations, and I look forward to further discussions with you. Sincerely, L. Alay iva cc: Rodney W.
