Dear John:

Do you have any suggestions where it might be useful to try to publish
this piece on using gold in place of troops? Any comment of your own
on it?

Off the record, the Washington Post wouldn't take it--certainly it
conflicts with their editorial policy, and I couldn't push it very
hard as belonging to the area of "Science and Man". I had a hunch you
might appreciate the idea better,

Do look at the Post editorial and my column on September 20 re treaty
control of biological warfare. This could become very important and
very dangerous if we don't nip it in the bud.

Any idea now when the Senator might have time to visit us at Stanford?
