April 11, 1952 Dr. Igor N. Asheshov New fork Botanical Garden Bronx Park, New York 58, N.Y. Dear Dr, Asheshov: Thank you for your letter of the Sth, and Boulgakov's address. As it happens, a letter that I had long ago mis-addressed to Boulgakov at the Pasteur Institut finally was forwarded to him. He has written very cordially, and has shipped the phages with which I was concerned. I am very pleased, nevertheless, to have had the occasiom to open a discussion of therapy of lysogenic bacteria. Although we are not unoccupied with other matters, I think we should be able to find time to test a few compounds on our K-12 E. coli / lambda system. If you have some promising antivirotics that you would be willing to supply, we should be pleased to have them for this purpose. We will, of course, keep you well informed of any results. Unfortunately, we will not be travelling East for some time to come, and will miss this opportunity of a direct conversation. Yours sincerely, Joshua Lederberg
