W- iv UNIVERSITY of PENNSYLVANIA /C> PI AL- PHILADELPHIA 4 The-School-of Medicine — Tue Exrprince Reeves JoHNson Founpation ror MevicaL Paysics March 16, 1951 Dear Josh, Thanks for the note regarding the last sentence of the lst paragraph on p29 of my Ann Rev Microbiol. article. I've been out a lot with colds and the flu and am just now cleaning up some of my ancient correspondence, As it stands the sentence doesn't make sense to me either. This sentence was a note to my- self on a dictating machine which found its way into the MS and did not relate to your work particularly. In an additional paragraph outlining the relations between sensitivities to various phages (B/1,5, for example) and nutritional requirements (B/1, tr, for example) the sentence would have fitted as a conclu- ding statement, "Eventually we may look for moretic genetic relations between factors determining sensi- tivities to various phages and those determining nutritional requirements." But the theme was never developed and the sloppy sentence stayed in. — To my sorrow. stereoscopic We're getting some beautiful/electron micro- scope pictures of T2 adsorbing on B tail first. It might be worth while to tkae some pictures of your diploid K-12 coli, particularly since I have heard that it is lysogenic. Would you send me a slant of K-12 and a host for the phage? Best regards, Thomas F. Anderson
