Dear Dr. Lederberg,
I am planning to arrive in Madison on the afternoon of Aug 1, and will be grateful if you can make an inexpensive room reservation for me, probably at your Union.
I would like to stay several days, and if you are interested, we might start work on meningococci together -- they are not so fussy as some think.  But that is the main subject I want your advice on.
