CUMC Nurses Commencement.

I would be at a loss what I could say that would be useful in difficult
circumstances. While I could make a more gracious effort, you
would be better served by someone with more direct experience

and knowledge of nursing education.

Issues do come to mind about which more might be said.

A fantasy I have entertained but never dared press is that nursing
education and medical education should be identical* for preclinical
years with gradual differentiation, and much greater opportunity

for flexibility between the career lines of nursing, general

medical practice, specialty practice and research. I doubt that it
would have been very helpful to air such an utopian speculation in
the stressful circumstances.
