contribute a memoir on Edward Tatum. The manuscript is due in Palo Alto
by April 1, 1979. It should be held to ten pages or so.

If you have a picture of Ed please send it along with the manuscript, or
tell us where we can get one to accompany the memoir.

The policy of Annual Reviews, Inc., a nonprofit corporation, does not permit
us to provide honoraria to contributors. We are, however, authorized to
offer you a complimentary subscription to the Review and 150 reprints of

the article. Additional reprints may be purchased.

I hope you will be able to accept our invitation and look forward to your

I would have been delighted to do this; but I have already completed
a brief memoatrfor the Am Phil Soc., and am doing a much longer one for the
NAS series. Both of these are with the blessing -~ but by his own desire
hot coauthorship -- of GW Beadle. I just don't see how I can add anything
to those 2 efforts.

Dear Hersch

I would certainly have no objection to the REprinting of the enclosed
piece, if the APS were agreeable. Certainly there is likely to be litte
overlap of the respective audiences.

Alternatively, Ed Reich, Sam Gross, or Ray Barratt might have their
own perspectives.

Yes, I do have some pictures, through June Tatum's kindness.
