MEMORANDUM TO PRESENT AND FORMER MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL

SCIENCE BOARD

Subject: Dr. Edward L. Tatum

 

A memorial service was held in honor of Dr. Edward L. Tatum
on December 11 in the Caspary Auditorium at The Rockefeller
University. The service was attended by approximately 200
colleagues, former students, postdoctorals, and friends.
Each tribute was brief, highlighting some particular
association with Dr. Tatum. The presentations were
characterized by repeated references to Dr. Tatum's
service, standards of scientific excellence, warmth,

and generosity as a human being.

Dr. Jewel Plummer Cobb represented the Board on this special

occasion and read a tribute to Dr. Tatum. Copies of that
tribute and the order of service are attached.
