STANFORD UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER DEPARTMENT OF GENETICS June 15, 1977 Dr. Frank Hungate Biology Department Pacific Northwest Labs Batelle Memorial Institute Richland, Washington 99352 Dear Frank: In going over the notes of our conversation, I recall that you said that you had seen the actual tubes, and then I jokingly asked you if anyone had taken a picture of them. Well, of course not; but failing that, would you be able to do anything as trite as to make your own sketch of what you actually saw at the time, and let me have that as at least one contribution to the reminis-— cence that I am trying to worm out of you? I don't know whether your recollection can be a good guide, possibly being contaminated by so many later experiences, but I have to let you be the judge of that. I just have to remind you that you were there, and not many others can be found who were!
