As part of this celebration and, more specifically, in conjunction with the dedication of the new Silvain and Arma Wyler Children's Hospital, including the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Mental Retardation Research Center, the University is planning a Symposium on the Child during the week of August 28 to September 2. It is planned to bring together authorities to examine the present status of knowledge and problems concerning a wide range of aspects of child health and welfare. We hope this symposium will serve to focus attention on the many problems which confront society with respect to children and be productive of a fruitful interchange between many disciplines which are concerned with child care. ALP lag Each of the sessions of the program will have a major focus with several speakers invited to present papers of 30-40 minutes reflecting their viewpoints and work as they relate to the general topic. The University will be deeply honored by your participation in this important event. We will, of course, defray any traveling expenses and offer an honorarium of $300 for your participation. We invite you to contribute a paper on genetic mechanisms for the session on Friday morning, Sept. 2nd, which will be devoted to basic molec- ular biology and genetics. This symposium precedes the International Con- gress on Human Genetics which will convene on the University of Chicago campus the following week. WYLER CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL - JOSBPH P. KENNEDY, JR.
