Dear Mrs. Rous:

On October 5, the University is holding a colloquium
to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Rous.
The speakers will be Lewis Thomas, Howard Temin, and
David Baltimore, and I am sure there will be informal
remarks from former associates and friends of Dr. Rous in
the audience.

This tribute to one of the University's most honored
and fondly remembered scientists would not be complete
without the participation of the one person who most
closely shared the joys of his career and his life.

I take great pleasure in inviting you to be the
guest of the University at both the colloquium (3-5 p.m.,
Caspary Auditorium) and an informal lurtcheon for the
speakers and former associates of Dr. Rous (12:30 p.m.,
Cohn Library). I look forward to greeting you.
