Dr. Margeris A. Jesaitis has been reappointed the Chairman of this Committee, and as such will serve as the Institutional Official responsible for certifying that all facilities and procedures involved in the recombinant DNA research are reviewed and judged to be in compliance with the NIH guidelines. Mr. Paul R. Penndorf, Director of Safety and Code Compliance, has- been named the Biological Safety Officer of the Univer- sity; he has had wide experience here with procedures and facilities for biomedical research. Professor Attallah Kappas, M.D., Physician-in-Chief of The Rockefeller University Hospital, and his clinical asso- ciates are available as needed to advise the IBC in the matter of health surveillance of the personnel working in P3 facilities. Dr. Peter J. Gomatos of the Sloan-Kettering Insti- tute and Dr. Richard B. Roberts of the New York Hospital- Cornell Medical Center agreed to serve as non-affiliated members of the IBC.
