Dear Mrs. Rockefeller
I had just begun to know Nelson during the few months since my arrival in New York; and was looking forward to working with him on the Rockefeller Archive Center, and similar matters.
Obviously, I am but one among thousands, or millions, who feel a keen sense of loss -- and can just begin to share your own bereavement. But let this be just one more note, brief but heartfelt, of condolence at what is so great a loss, private and public.
