Dear Governor Rockefeller:

I am writing you today about the Governing Council
of the Rockefeller Archive Center, of which you were
earlier a member. On the tragic death of your brother,
John, we now lack a representative of the Rockefeller
family. Would you be willing to serve now as this
member of the Council?

Your acceptance would be a great help and encour-
agement to me, new to the Council. I know that your
brothers, David and Laurance, will be pleased if you
can take on this assignment.

In the hope that you will accept, I should let you
know that the next meeting of the Council will be on
October 30th at 11:00 A.M. at Rockefeller University.
These meetings usually take an hour,and a half, and are
followed by a brief lunch. Dick Dana, who has been the
staff member following the Center since its beginning,
will be happy to. provide more information to you or any
member of your staff you wish to designate.
