Enclosed is a copy of The Conservation Foundation's
latest publication entitled The Future of American Agriculture
as a Strategic Resource, edited by CF economists, Sandra S.
Batie and Robert G. Healy.

 

The book is a collection of eight papers, all by
recognized experts in the field, and it addresses a number
of timely issues which hold the key to future American
agricultural productivity. Among the issues are soil
productivity, agricultural technology, water availability,
climatic change, dependence on fossil fuels, competition
for agricultural lands, and crop monoculture. The issue
papers are preceded by an overview authored by Ms. Batie
and Mr. Healy.

The Future of American Agriculture should be of special
value to members of the agricultural business community,
government officials, legislators, and citizens interested
in knowing more about the future of American agriculture.
