Dear Phil:
This is going to be like a chorus from the Mutual Admiration Society, but it is altogether sincere.
Thank you for your letter of Oct 23, and for recruiting your guests to the Dec 3 dinner, and finally and warmly for the opera tickets. Marguerite and I enjoyed the performance. It was well staged, and the basso role at least was well sung. One has to admit "Entfuhrung" is one of Mozart's minor works, but the Met (as rarely as we can go) is always much fun; and you were most generous.
