April 7, 1982 Dr. Joshua Lederberg President. Rockefeller University 1230 York Avenue New York, New York 10021 Dear Dr. Lederberg: I am so sorry you were not able to attend our Science Advisory Board meeting held last Wednesday in Senator Cranston's office because it did prove to be most useful and, I think, invigorating for all who were there. I have enclosed an outline of the meeting and if you are interested in further detail, that is available from our office. For your review, I have enclosed copies of memos which were prepared for last week's Science Advisory Board meeting. Since our meeting several things have happened which may be of interest: 1. Mrs. Cranston, Larry Hoffheimer, and I met to discuss potential hosts for the major fundraising event proposed for the fall and we will be meeting with Senator Cranston in two weeks to discuss that further. 2. The Science Advisory Board Executive Committee had a conference call to further discuss the proposed major conference for the fall. A number of assignments came out of that which will be carried out in the next two weeks prior to the next conference call to review our progress. I am sure between the direct mail letters, and the review of the meetings held last week, I will be in touch with you in the near future. I look forward to our next opportunity to get together. Cordially, [Miley Uhdlé/y Elizabeth E. Chotin Executive Director J HIDER
