Dear Josh,

Thank you for your recent letter. I would be happy to
keep the Rockefeller banner waving here, were there any way
to do so.

I have checked with the inaugural committee and find
that you were invited as a "special friend", not as a repre~-
sentative of the Rockefeller University - thus they will not
want you replaced by anyone but yourself! (1I'11 stay in the
crowd of undifferentiated but intensely loyal faculty).

Needless to say we are all lookingsforward to Don's

inauguration (especially if our heat wave dies down) Sorry you
won't be able to be here.
