MAR 21 i964 27 Rue de l'Aude, Paris 14, FRANCE, Paris: March iith, 1969 Dr. Joshua Lederberg, Genetics Department, Stanford University, STANFORD, California, U.S.A, Dear Joshua, Many thanks for your note of recent date on the subject of conservation of wildlife. I must say that I find your idea of extending the responsibility of museums to the preservation of tissue samples in cold storage very original and wise, As you rightly say, the idea has special significance for Australia, and I will do my best to ensure that it is taken up. The first step seems to me to be to enlist the support of the Australian Academy of Science, of which I am now a member, Secondly, the idea should be drawn to the attention of our newly formed Australian Conservation Foundation, of which Iam also a member, I have written to Secretary B of the Australian Academy, and will push the matter further on my return home this August, Work at Pasteur is going particularly well, although the organizational framework of this Institute leaves much to be desired, Perhaps if you are in Europe this summer, we might get to see you. All best wishes, Sincerely, Gus Nossai/ ff yw ssoN
