Dear Dr. Waters,

Thank you for your letter of November 28th and for the enclosures.
Their letters remind me how much I owe to Tatum and to Ryan, and again
how much we have lost by Ryan's so premature death.

One more document would help f111 out the picture - namely my
own submission or application for a fellowship; as mentioned in my
previous letter I do not have a copy and I assume this would also
have some information bearing on research plans. This should be
dated about December 1945.

It is gratifying to know that you can still retrieve these files,
and I hope my further request does not gdt you to too much more
trouble than I have already burdened you with, and for which I am
most grateful.
