Dear Mr. Spear:

Thank you for initiating the letter I received today from
Mr. Kenneth Baum, Acting Director, Division of Regional Medical
Programs regarding funding guidelines for the proposed Ad Hoc Patient
Education Group. Iam forwarding this information to the 29 RMP
programs with Pilot Arthritis Projects. ,

Ihave received a request for clarification regarding the proper
mechanism for making the $1,000 payment. <A copy of the posed
question is enclosed. The Regional Medical Program of Texas does
wish to obtain clarification of this issue from your office. I have
gent a copy of the guidelines from Mr. Baum, which do not specifically
‘address the question of mechanism of payment to the Texas office.

I have also sent a copy of the letter from Dr. Reed, Director of the
Western Pennsylvania Regional Medical Program which describes
the mechanism chosen by his office.
