Transitional Information for Regional Medical Programs

The State and Areawide CHP agencies and EHSDS are being
informed of the operating procedures to be followed during
the transition from existing programs to those authorized by
the National Health Planning and Resources Development Act of
1974 (P.L. 93-641). oa

AL1L such agencies have been informed that they are eligible
to apply for transitional funding through December 31, 1975,
initially. Please be assured that the RMPs are eligible for
support through that period also. however, further specific
procedures will be developed for you when we receive necessary
information regarding the amount of funds and types of
activities that may be supported by RMPs during transition
based upon the Continuing Resolution Act that was signed on
March 14, 1975. These anticipated changes have been noted
on Page 6 of the enclosed Attachment 1, "Transitional Pro-
cedures.”

I urge all existing agencies (RMPs, Areawide CHPs, and EHSDSs)
to work closely with one another in coordinating their plans

for the transition as they relate to assisting in (1) area and
agency organization and designations, (2) staffing agencies,

(3) transfer of appropriate records and data, and other areas

of assistance that may be deemed appropriate by you or suggested
by us.

Tt also urge that all agencies make the utmost effort during
the transition period to ensure the continuing participation,

involvement, and support of consumer and provider members
of agency advisory bodies, including boards, councils,
committees, and task forces.

we hope to be able to provide you with specific instruc-
tions within the next two weeks.
