Dear Doctor Macfarlane:
In reply to your letter of September 28th, I have no desire to enter into discussions on the question of the desirability of maintaining a medical school run by women.  You asked me to serve on your committee and therefore I had to reply to your letter that I did not find myself able to become a member of it.  I do not wish to influence anyone either for or against such a project.
