Dear Doctor Sabin, I have just succeeded in separating phthioic acid into optical antipodes, that is, into dextro--and levorotatory fractions. The dextro and the levo acids may have different biological effects. I am wondering if you would have time to try a few animal experiments on these new products? I have not yet had time to analyze my preparations, having just made the final separation today, but I am so anxious to know what these acids will do on cell stimulation that I am hoping we can do the biological and chemical analyses simultaneously. Very sincerely, Rudolph J. Anderson P.S. I hope to have the material ready for you sometime next week.
