January 30, 1941 Dear Warren: I am looking forward to seeing you when you come to Pasadena. On reconsidering the proposal which I made in my letter, it seems to me too that I was carried away somewhat by my enthusiasm for a new field, and that it would be wise to set up at first a smaller organization and attack the problem more slowly. Our principal need is to get Dan Campbell here, or some similarly well-trained immunologist. Campbell, with his interest in chemistry, seems to me to be the best of the younger immunologists for this work. Sincerely yours, Linus Pauling
