May 27, 1959. Dear Buzz: I got home on May 21 after a one-day stopover in Copenhagen. The Russian trip was interesting and enjoyable but it felt so good to breathe the Copenhagen air. Our finances are favorable enough to permit you to choose the best polarimeter available. Pete Hoefer is placing an order for the Rudolph now. There's also no reason to worry about the other expenses for salaries, supplies and necessary equipment; I think we're in very good shape for next year. Inman sounds good and I am enthusiastic about your inviting him, if you choose to. It may crowd us a bit but as a mature worker with a congenial personality he should be an asset to us. I can't resist the temptation of learning more about DNA. Let me know if I can help you with arranging for his coming. We're packing up now. The first wave will depart from St. Louis next week - Berg, Cohn, Kaiser and Hogness (if he recovers from a pulmonary infection). My family will leave on June 9. As ever, Arthur Kornberg.
