August 6, 1971 Dear Bruce: A note to remind you that I'd like very much to see the preprint of your paper on the gene 5 protein and to have a small sample of your preparation to compare with those that we're getting. Do you have any information on the best DNA for use on the cellulose columns? Which commercial preparation have you found acceptable or optimal? Thus far we've had no difficulties in getting the gene 5 protein from infected cell paste (about 1 mg/g of paste) and now would like to know more about its properties so that we can use it intelligently in studies of DNA replication. Many thanks. Sincerely, Arthur Kornberg
