4th March, 1957 Dear Mr. Bawden, Thank you for your letter. We did make measurements on the TMV strain you sent me, obtained from leguminous plants, and found significant differences between it and the common strain. We have not yet got satisfactory measurements on the same strain grown in tobacco, which you sent us at the same time. At the moment our X-ray tube is out of action, but as soon as it is repaired we intend to take this up again and I shall, of course, send you the results. Yours sincerely, Rosalind Franklin
