All that mankind has done, thought, gained 
or been: it is lying as in magic preserva- 
tion in the pages of books — Thomas Carlyle. The Library of the Mississippi State Board of Health 
was established in 1936. Its primary purposes are to pro- 
vide current information regarding scientific advances 
and to encourage broader investigation and learning in 
the respective medical fields. 
Books and journals may be borrowed by licensed 
physicians, dentists, health workers, nurses and others 
engaged in health work. Most items are lent for two- 
week periods. Extension of loan will be granted upon 
request, unless the material is needed by others. 
Borrowers are expected to pay the cost of replacement of 
any book or periodical which may be lost or damaged 
while on loan. 
The Librarian will gladly assist in the selection of 
references on any subject desired. 
It is desired that application for loan of books and 
other medical library services be made through the local
