This paper offers a new explanation for an acceleration of polymerization by [. . . ] crystals.  Bamford is scheduled to talk at the Institute (on free radicals) on Saturday, Nov. 7, and so you may have a chance to talk to him if you wish.
On my vacation, I thought up a very simple self-replicating polymer system: the polymerization of aenylic acid on cis-sym-cyclohexane-tricarboxylic acid (which may be considered as the cyclic trimer of aenylic acid).  The materials have been ordered and I should have some results in about a month, without very much labor.
