June 2, 1958 Dr. George Klein Institute for Cell Research Carolinska Institutet Stockholm 60, Sweden Dear George: We are trying to fix our travel plans, and hope you will return from Canada in time to help us. We have to remain in Paris for a phage conference until Saturday noon, August 2. In order to give us a chance to stop over in Copenhagen, we thought of travelling from there to Stockholm on Monday, August 4. If possible, we would get there in time for the paper sessions Monday PM; hoxever, do you think it would be fatal if we arrived that evening? How about after the Congress? We are unfortunately squeezed batween Microbiology and Genetics (Montreal) and have to mke choices between different wished-for altern: tives. T hope we will manage to have some tim during the Congress for social and scientific discussion. For how long afterwards do you think we should plan to stay? I am at your cisposal fa as long as you feel will be necessary to fulfill my obligations to the Institute and to talk out the problems of tissue cell genetics, but should know just how long would be appropriate for this. I was a little concerned to hear about the post-Congress meeting at Uppsala, as I am sure you will want to go, and this might interfere with out own dis— cussion. Can you tell us your own plans for after the Congress? If we could manage to do some travelling in Scandinavia in company with you and Eva, we might kill several birds with one stone. Yours sincerely, JL/ew
