Many thanks for your letter of May 28th regarding the meeting on regional
medical programs scheduled for December 6, 1991. I very much regret that I will
not be able to attend on that date because of a meeting of the Kaiser Family
Foundation Board of Directors.

I am sure that you have been in touch with Bill Stewart and Bob Marston
regarding the early organization of the program, and of course with Mike
DeBakey regarding the Commission and the forces that led to legislation. I am
delighted that Dr. Rikli will be assisting as I think we need a few people with good
institutional memories on this.

I have enclosed my response postcard indicating my willingness to be of
assistance.
