SUBJECT: June 18 Meeting on RMP Interviews and Video

TO: Director, NLM

A meeting has been scheduled with you in your office on Tuesday,
June 18 at 2:30 p.m. to finalize the planning for the RMP
interviews, as well as discussing the video to be produced for the
conference. Those attending will be Dan Masys, Bill Leonard, Storm
Whaley, Bob Mehnert and myself (and possibly Elliot Siegel).

At this meeting, we would like to set priorities for those to be
interviewed, and to decide how the interviews will be done and by
whom. It is my understanding that the Lister Hill Center staff
involved will submit a proposal to you in advance of the meeting
concerning the interviews and the conference video.

It is also my understanding that your office has begun to set
tentative dates for interviews with the individuals that you
designated as first priority. We are assuming that you may want to
use the six interviews by Diane Rehm for the six high priority
people you identified, and so are trying to schedule these
interviews in the period that she indicated she would be available.
You will also note that we have meetings with Dr. Rikli scheduled
on June 24 and July 24.

On a related question, Bob Mehnert and I have reviewed the
materials submitted by Owen Korsmo. We feel that it is difficult
to assess his ability to write a substantive article on RMPs based
on this limited sample of very brief newspaper pieces, none of
which have anything to do with health issues. We noticed that he
is doing some work for NIMH at present, and Bob is trying to get
samples of anything he has written in this connection. I do not
see how we can recommend him for the job based just on what we have

at present.
For your information, I will be out of office on June 12-14, but

back on June 17.
