Dear Dan:
The day after I talked to you I called Ken Murray in Edinburgh. I was happy to hear from him and that he had dictated a letter that morning asking me to spend the year with him. I am looking forward to that year very much. Obviously the types of things that can be done in this lab would not be much different than what could be accomplished in your lab, however, the chance to spend time abroad and to meet a new group of people is very exciting.
I certainly appreciate your help. Dr. Murray stated that you wrote a letter which was very helpful to me. Obviously I wouldn't be in this area of research at all if it hadn't been for the excitement and interest which was generated during my fellowship with you. Having gotten a basic feeling for research has made it possible to think about things I wouldn't have dreamed of seven years ago. Thanks again and I look forward to discussing my sabbatical work with you.
