Dear Jim,
About the title of your book - I really do not think I can agree to it being called "Base Pairs".  I am sure you will see that everybody will identify the two of us as at least one of the pairs, and I do not see why I should have a book published in which I am described as "base". Personally, I thought the title "Honest Jim" an excellent one; I cannot see any reason why you should not wish to be called "honest".  I think you had better tell the Harvard University Press that I shall be unable to give them the release for the title "Base Pairs".  You had better think of another one, or go back to "Honest Jim".
I am also very undecided about the matter of photographs.  As you know, I normally do not allow my photograph to be reproduced except on very ephemeral leaflets.  I am not at all keen on seeing my photograph in your book.  However, I will reflect further on this point and write to you again.  Odile told me this morning that she does not think she has any photographs taken during the period which you mentioned to her.
You might remind Joan Argetsinger that she was going to write to me if she wished to have any formal letter about her coming here.
