Dear Jim,
Many thanks for the CSH report and for your manuscript on publication etc.  I found the former very interesting reading and the latter rather depressing.  Everything you say about priority in research is only too true but I wish it wasn't.  I myself am now heartily sick of the rat-race aspect of science but I still find the science itself absorbing.
I've now heard from the BBC that they will probably transmit the DNA programme on BBC 2, Horizon, during the evening of 8th July.  We are promised a preview on 4th July.  I shall be amused to see the press comments (if any!).
