To PREVENT CARDIAC DEPRESSION, // should also be given with all antipyretics, anodynes, and hypnotics, and AFTER all hypodermic administrations of morphia. It has no cumulative action, agreeable to the stomach in all conditions; in a word, Cactina is a SAFE and EFFICIENT cardiac and general tonic, and hence indicated in EVERY FORM of debility. Fillet represents one one-hundredth of a grain of Cactina—the active proximate prin- ciple of Cactus Mexicana DOSE.—One Fillet every hour, or less frequent, as may be necessary. For free samples and literature, address Sulthn Drug Co., ST. LOUIS, MO., U. S. A. By increasing the vigor of the propelling power—the ven- tricular contractions—through the administration of CAC= TINA FILLETS, the normal amount of blood is pumped into the arteries in the proper time, and thus, the arteries being kept full, tissue nutrition is improved everywhere, including the structure of the heart itself. This is why CACTINA FILLETS are so successful in guarding the heart in all febrile, nervous and chronic diseases, in which the circulation is always more or less impaired. Charles Kelley Gardner, M. D., I have been using Cactina Pip- Huntington, W. Va. LETS in my practice for the past two years and find them a sine qua non in functional and organic lesions of the heart. In tobacco heart their efficacy is unexcelled, promptly relieving the nervous debility arising from an excessive indulgence. Cactina is a specific par excel - lence in all cardiac lesions, giving force and regularity to innervated action. I use them jointly in general therapy, finding them indispensable in various affections in which the heart action should be scrupulously watched and carefully main- tained as the central and all important organ of life. In general prostration their action is prompt and decisive. Cactina PiLLKTS are safe and reliable in relaxation of the arterioles, attended with a decrease of blood pressure. It will afford me great pleasure to continue their use. F. Soper, M. D., To say that Cactina Pilots are good Sydenham Dispensary, for a lagging and irregular over-worked New York, N. Y. and irritable heart would be placing it mildly. Nothing could be more prompt in action than Cactina. .1 speak from personal experience, which is the best. Two CACTINA FILLETS three limes a day will sustain the heart of your patient and will materially assist you in the treatment of all debilitating diseases. 1 For the cardiac weakness and nervousness caused by the excessive use of tea, coffee, tobacco or alcohol, CACTINA is almost an absolute specific. One to three CACTINA FILLETS, four times a day, and continued until the heart and nervous system regain their normal tone. M. K. Bowers, M. D., I am averse to writing testimonials, and Harrisburg, Pa, never did so but once when I found true merit in a well-known and worthy preparation, but I want to say that I am prompted to write a word in commendation of Cactina Pictets. For about a year I have given Cactina PiEEETS a crucial test in a large number of cases, and I am sure of my position when I say that no one single pi'oduct has given me as much proof of worth and reliability as Cactina PiEEETS. I use them and have most interesting record of results, which is too lengthy to record in a brief statement. Pet me congratulate the Sultan Drug Company upon the unparalleled value of the little wonder, Cactina Pieeets. J. Baudot, M. D., I have been using Cactina Fillets for two Washington, D. C. years, and can say candidly that they are in every respect what they are represented to be, and will gladly recommend them to all persons suffering from diseases in which they are indicated. Sarah B. Fleming, Nl. D., It gives me pleasure to add my testi- Coronado, Cal. mony in favor of Cactina Pieeets. I have used them many times with success. A very efficient remedy. F. G. Welch, M. D., I have used and prescribed Cactina Pieeets New York, N. Y. ever sinCe they were first introduced, and like them very much. CACTINA PILLETS are advertised only to the medical profession. 2 In all forms of cardiac pains, CACTINA is a remedy of much value, due to its power of promoting the nutrition of the heart. It has no effect in the way of controlling existing pain, but it lessens the severity and the fre= quency of future attacks. P. W. Good, M. D., I dispensed Cactina PiccETS among my Cincinnati, 0. patients suffering with cardiac lesions which gave excellent results. In one case, a male of twenty-five years, who has been suffering for seven years with paroxysmal rapidity of the heart, “tachycardia,” and has had several physicians treating him before he came to me—he has been under my observation for a year. I tried the usual remedies, such as digitalis, etc., with some benefit. One night I was called to his home, he had an attack of tachycardia; I ordered a Cactina PicCET every half hour until relieved, and three pillets reduced the heart to its normal action. He has been taking them since, about three pillets a day, and he says they have helped him wonderfully. John N. Calhoun, M. D., I consider Cactina PiccETS superior to Lisbon, 0. any remedy for cardiac troubles arising from the excessive use of tobacco, also in sympathetic dis- turbance caused from indigestion. Geo. M. Crosby, M. D., Qactina Piixets have given me good New York, N. Y. results. I gave them in cardiac insuffi- ciency with gratifying results, and will continue to prescribf them. J. V. H. Baker, M. D., I prescribed Cactina Pieekts in several Brooklyn, N. Y. cases with very satisfactory results. I have prescribed them often and will continue to do so. CACTINA PILLETS is a valuable remedy in tobacco heart. 3 CACTINA exerts its influence on the sympathetic nervous system through the cardiac plexus. Its continued use, therefore, improves the nutrition of the heart and nerve centers. J. H. Blake, M. D., I am pleased with the results from the admin- Lee, Fla. istration of Cactina Fillets. In weak heart, from whatsoever prostrating cause, with palpitation or laboring effort of that organ, when its powers of contraction and expansion are weakened, Cactina gives tone to the nerve centers or strength to the organ itself, enabling it to perform its functions and restore the heart’s action to its normal con- dition, greatly to the comfort of the sufferer. Cactina Fillets take the place of digitalis in relieving heart trouble, weakened from excess in alcohol, tobacco and sexual prostra- tion, with good results. I take great pleasure in adding testi- mony to their great merit and will use them when such troubles confront me in the pursuits of my practice. J. E. Cocke, M. D., I use Cactina Fillets with the very best Gnbble Springs, Tex. of results. I never allow my case to be without them. I can not speak too highly of them as a cardiac tonic. They have never failed me in a single case. Geo. F. Balcom, M. D., Cactina Fillets fill a place that stro- Worcestep, Mass. phanthus, digitalis or other heart tonics and regulators are not needed for. Their action is efficient, safe and wholty satisfactory to me. CACTINA does not disagree with the stomach, no matter how long used. 4 When an old person’s pulse begins to lose its power and regularity, or other symptoms of senile heart manifest themselves, CACTINA FILLETS should be the first rem- edy considered as collateral treatment, in connection with such other remedies as may be indicated in the special symptoms. w°ey' We haVe "lade thorou8h trial of Cactina Fillets, both in organic and functional heart troubles. They enter into all our prescriptions for the former, and alone they are a specific in the latter. Edward Bair, M. D., In speaking of Cactina Fillets, I consider _ them an ideal cardiac tonic; as a remedy for palpitation or any of the functional disorders of the heart, it is a remedy that stands without a peer in my estimation. E. N Driver, M D., I have used Cactina Fillets constantly for ew ern, a. the past tpree years, in senjle heart, tobacco and coffee hearts, neurasthenia, hysteria and in all fevers, while administering any antipyretics. I have always found them prompt and reliable. E. W. Bullard, M. D., There is no better heart tonic than Cactina eneca, Kan. PiIIETS. j give them assured CQn_ fidence that they will relieve that irregular weak heart, tone and strengthen it every time. I shall continue to prescribe Cactina Fillets and recommend them to others. CACTINA FILLETS—the only safe and certain heart sup- porter. 5 Anemic young women suffer from cardiac palpitation; the more immediate and direct exciting cause being cardiac innervation. In such cases CACTINA FILLETS are being prescribed with unvarying success. J. A. Batton, M. D., j used Cactina Pictets with happiest Buffalo, Tenn. results. I use them continually and can truthfully say it is the best heart tonic I have ever used. Besides its convenient form, which makes it more desirable, I can recommend Cactina Pictets to the medical profession and request those who have never used them to prescribe it in one case and be convinced of its genuineness in all feeble hearts. It is indispensable in tobacco heart and alcoholic drinkers. W. J. Edmondson, M. D., I am well pleased with the effect of Willits, Cal. Cactina Pictets. I prescribe them regularly where a heart tonic is indicated. Cactina is not an irritant stimulant to the heart, but it is purely a tonic. J. J. Diet, M. D., Cactina Fillets need no recommendation at New Orleans, La. my frauds, as they have long established their reputation as one of our best cardiac stimulants; far superior to digitalis and strychnia in many instances. J. F. Jones, M. D., In appreciation to the value of Cactina Pic- Denver, Col. cETS allow me say they are a staple in my house. I gave them to my daughter for whom they have done a world of good. CACTINA FILLETS are not cumulative in their action and hence can be used with confidence and safety. 6 Many heart diseases occur without any manifestations of pain. A close observation of the behavior of the heart, no matter what the disease may be, is a wise precaution. Chester D. Barnes, M. D., I used Cactina PiEEETS in a case of Warrenville, 111. palpitation in which the least motion set the heart palpitating so that the patient would sink to the floor exhausted. Am pleased to state that Cactina PiEEETS cured the patient and she has had no return since. Chas. H. St. John, M. D., I found Cactina Pieeets O. K. I now Kansas City, Kan. use them whereas I once used digitalis and other heart stimulants. I heartily recommend them to the profession as reliable and worthy of a prominent place in the medical practice. P. L. Brick, M. D., I have ever been very backward in using Le Mars, La. proprietary remedies. Having an opportunity of testing Cactina Pieeets on myself I have been less back- ward in prescribing them for others. I have found them valuable. C. Edgar Conrad, M. D., I have thoroughly tried Cactina Pie- Calhoun, 111. EETS and have had remarkably good results from their use. Am now using them in two cases of cardiac debility, with splendid results. I have had my drug- gist keep them in stock and henceforth shall use them because of their value. CACTINA is a heart tonic, pure and simple, and by its con= tinued use the nutrition of the heart is improved, and the organ is permanently strengthened. It does not disagree with the stomach, no matter how long used. 7 It can not be disputed that your patient with a normal heart and pulse stands a better chance for recovery than one whose heart is weak and whose circulation is poor. CACTINA should be used as collateral treatment in all febrile diseases. Alfred Ahlman, M. D., I obtained the most pleasing- results from Chicago, 111. Cactina Pieeets in a case of diabetes mellitus, where I prescribed them, two four times a day. The patient has showed a great deal of improvement; his heart action is much improved, after seven weeks of Cactina medication with such other treatment as 'the case indicated. It increases the fullness of the pulse and leaves a tonic after- effect, so different from the ordinary cardiac stimulants. In valvular diseases, like dilatation of the mitral valve, it excels anything I ever used. Where irritable heart from the use of tobacco, it is excellent on account of the action it has on the spinal nerve centers. There is no gastric irritation set up from its continuous use. I have given it a permanent place in my medicine case, and do not see how I could ever get along without it in my practice. A. R. Boyd, M. D., I have used Cactina Pieeets in cases of Billmgton, Tex. typhoid fever that required a heart stimulant, and what is known as tobacco heart, with good results. G. W. Carter, M. D., I have prescribed Cactina Pieeets for Durham, Ark. some four or five years and would not lay them down to-day for anything in the field; digitalis is not in it as a heart tonic. The action of the heart and the tonicity of the blood vessels can be sustained by the administration of CACTINA FILLETS. 8 People with weak hearts are predisposed to illness and death in other forms, owing to the impairment of their vitality caused by defective circulation, and in the treat= ment of which the heart should never be neglected. H. S. Strain, M. D., I have used thousands of Cactina PiLEETS Nokomis, 111. and know them to be a splendid heart remedy. Can not do without them. H. Doane, M. D., I have prescribed Cactina PiLEETS with Seattle, Wash, gratifying results. As a heart tonic they stand at the top, and shall always use them when indicated. Phil. S. Allis, M. D,, I administer Cactina Pieeets invariably Chicago, 111. jn cardiac derangements, and my experience in their use is such that I unhesitatingly recommend them to the profession. Their efficacy on the heart and ganglion is soon manifested. A. D. Stimpson, M. D., C. M., I am happy to state that I have used Thompson, Pa. Cactina Pieeets, and am satisfied of their value in all kinds of cardiac weakness, but more especially for sympathetic palpitation in nervous women. I shall hereafter take great pleasure in prescribing them. J.EmilFortier, M.D.,C.M., I take great pleasure in speaking of Manchester, N. H. the beneficial effects produced by the use of Cactina Pieeets, which I gave in a case of mitral disease of the heart, the result being much more satisfactory than with any other remedy I had previously used. CACTINA FILLETS have deservedly gained the confidence of the medical profession as a cardiac tonic. 9 No practitioner can be too careful of the heart’s action in the treatment of all febrile diseases, especially when antipy- reties form part of the treatment, and no remedy has proven so safe and convenient as CACTINA FILLETS to sustain that organ in such cases. W. S. Dixon, M. D., I find Cactina Pieeets to be the best gen- Rosebud, 111. eral heart tonic I have ever used; especially are they indicated as a heart supporter in pneumonia. They have always given me perfect satisfaction. C. W. Bishop, M. D., I have used Cactina Pieeets with splendid Etna, 111. success, especially in the treatment of long- continued fevers, such as typhoid. I use them during all the stages of diseases, to keep the heart in good condition. H. W. Earthman, M. D., Cactina Pieeets are the long-felt want. Bald Frame, Tex. j use them constantly; in giving antipy- retics, I always back them up with the Pillets, as most cases of fevers, where antipyretics are used, cause a fag in your patient’s heart, and they are the relief. They are also fine for anemic women who are troubled with palpitation of the heart, or in combination with Other stimulants for heart failure, or where a heart stimulant is needed, then use Cactina Pieeets. E. C. Foster, M. D., I have given Cactina Pieeets a thorough Whitehouse, Tex. trial and am convinced that as a cardiac tonic they have no superior. I shall continue to prescribe them where a heart stimulant is indicated. Ira W. Porter, M. D-, I am well acquainted with Cactina Pie- Sanford, Fla. EETS; use them every day in my practice. I would not be without them. Faulty blood distribution impairs nutrition. In the treat- ment of chronic diseases, CACTINA PILLETS should play an important part. 10 Since CACTINA creates no gastric disturbances, nor pos= sesses any cumulative action, so frequently encountered in the administration of other cardiac remedies, it probably stands without a peer as a safe and efficient cardiac tonic. J. W. Dunfee, M. D., I find Cactina Pieeets the best heart Wren, Ohio. stimulant and tonic that I ever used in typhoid and pneumonia. I recommend them, to my brother practitioners, and once used they will never be without them. S. M. Dodson, M. D., I have used Cactina Pieeets myself and Santa Clara, Cal. prescribed them often in my practice for two years past. They do all that .is claimed for them. In pneu- monia, typhoid fever, and in almost every case of severe or continued illness, they sustain the heart beautifully, without the least unpleasant effect. I therefore prescribe them freely and confidently. G.Caldwell, M. D., Cactina Pieeets are a success; they are James, Ala. decidedly the best continuous heart supporter I have ever used. A. L. Elder, M. D., Cactina PiEEETS are just what they are Hebron, Neb. claimed to be. I find where there is a lack of capillary circulation, with “cyanosis” and a general weak- ening of the heart’s action, that Cactina PieeETS fill the bill exactly. I shall continue to prescribe them. C. W. Culp, M. D., I have used Cactina Pieeets and find Mammoth Springs, Ark. that they are all that is claimed for them. In fact, when indicated, I don’t think there is anything that will take their place. CACTINA FILLETS should be prescribed during and after rheumatic fever. 11 To sustain perfect foetal circulation during gestation no remedy is as safe and valuable as CACTINA FILLETS. One pillet, three or four times a day, will increase the wel= fare of both mother and child. Physiological experiments in this regard and interesting chart showing foetal circula= tion, mailed free to any physician on application. Robert Frame, M. D., Permit me to speak in the highest praise Milford, Del. Qf Cactina Pippets, as manufactured by the Sultan Drug Co., of St. Douis, Mo. I have tested them in several cases of heart failure, and where a general tonic was indicated, notably in one severe case, occurring in a patient, Mrs. M. W. R., a young married lady. A week before I saw her she aborted a three-months foetus; she had retention of placenta, which was causing profuse uterine hemorrhage. I applied the tampon in situ and arrested the hemorrhage. This was about 9p. m. I left her, after giving a restorative, seemingly comfortable. At 1 a. m., I was hastily summoned to her bedside; she seemed to be in a dying con- dition, pulseless, and with sighing respiration. Ascertaining that the tampon had stopped all hemorrhage and she was not losing blood, I saw that it was a case of extreme heart failure from the repeated loss of blood and depressed condition of the nerve centers. As she had not the power of deglutition, I dissolved some heart tablets in equal parts of aromatic spirits of ammonia, brandy and water, and by depressing the tongue, I introduced a tablespoonful at a dose. This I did for a half hour; I found it produced no change in her condi- tion, and she was rapidly sinking. Happening to have a bottle of Cactpna Pippets with me, I dissolved eight of them in an ounce of water; after giving her a teaspoonful every ten minutes, I found, after using four teaspoonfuls, she began to rally, and in less than one-half hour she was completely resuscitated. The next day, or twelve hours after applying the tampon, I removed it and found the secundines adherent; the woman made a complete recovery. I have been in active practice for thirty-four years, having graduated at the Jefferson Medical College, of Philadelphia, class of 1859, and never in all that length of practice witnessed any remedy to act with such promptness and good results. There is not the least doubt but this lady owes her life to the efficacy of Cactina Pippets. In gratitude for the success I had in this case, I make this statement. In the treatment of disease, the heart should never be left without its nurse—CACTINA FILLETS.
