ALLEGED SHIPMENT: On or about October 13, 1949, from Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico. PRODUCT: 28 70-pound bales of corn husks at Los Angeles, Calif. NATURE OF CHARGE: Adulteration, Section 402 (a) (3), the product consisted in whole or in part of a filthy substance by reason of the presence of insect parts and rodent hairs, and of a decomposed substance by reason of the presence of mold. The product was adulterated while held for sale after shipment in interstate commerce. DISPOSITION: April 24, 1950. The Superior Food Products Co., Los Angeles, Calif., claimant, having consented to the entry of a decree, judgment of con- demnation was entered and the court ordered that the product be released under bond to be brought into compliance with the law, under the supervision of the Food and Drug Administration. The product was reconditioned by trimming, cutting, and hand sorting resulting in the salvage of 580 pounds of husks. The rejects, amounted to 1,120 pounds, were destroyed.
