ALLEGED SHIPMENT: On or about September 13, 1945, by Griffin Dairy & Ice Cream Co., from Griffin, Ga. This was a return shipment. PRODUCT: 31 55-gallon barrels of orange flavor base at Chicago, Ill., in posses- sion of the Harrison's Orange Corporation. LABEL, IN PART : "Harrison's Orange Hut Orange Flavor Base." NATURE OF CHARGE: Adulteration, Section 402 (a) (2), the article contained an added poisonous and deleterious substance, monochloraeetic acid, which is unsafe within the meaning of the law, since it is a substance not required in the production of the food, and it could have been avoided by good manu- facturing practice. DISPOSITION : November 14, 1945. The sole intervener having consented to the entry of a decree, judgment of condemnation was entered and the product was ordered destroyed.
