On August 20, 1942, the United States attorney for the Southern District of California filed a libel against a total of 1,522 cases, each case containing 24 cans, of green beans at Los Angeles, Calif., alleging that the article had been shipped in interstate commerce on or about April 28 and June 29, 1942, by Quality Products, Inc., from La Feria, Texas; and charging that it was adul- terated in that it consisted in whole or in part of a decomposed substance. The article was labeled in part: "Westlake Brand Cut Green Beans," or "Curtis Cut Green Stringless BKans." On September 12, 1942, no claimant having appeared, judgment of condemna- tion was "entered and the product was ordered destroyed.
