Sample nos. 40633-B, 40634-B, 40636-B, 40638-B, 40646-B to 40649-B, in.) This case was based on a shipment of canned salmon samples of which were found to be putrid, tainted, or stale. On February 20, 1936, the United States attorney for the District of Oregon, acting upon a report by the Secretary of Agriculture, filed in the district court an information against the Columbia River Packers Association, Inc., Astoria, Oreg., alleging shipment by said company in violation of the Food and Drugs Act, on or about August 18, 1935, from Kupreanof Harbor, Alaska, into the State of Oregon of a quantity of canned salmon which was adulterated. The article was alleged to be adulterated in that it consisted in part of a decomposed and putrid animal substance. On April 1, 1936, a plea of guilty was entered on behalf of the defendant company and the court imposed a fine of $100. W. R. GREGG, Acting Secretary of Agriculture.
