This case involved an interstate shipment of crab meat that was found to 
contain filth and was also in part decomposed.
On July 21. 1933, the United States attorney for the District of Maryland, 
acting upon a report by the Secretary of Agriculture, filed in the district court 
a libel praying seizure and condemnation of 76 pounds of crab meat at Balti- 
more, Md., alleging that the article had been shipped in interstate commerce 
on or about July 17, 1933, by G. N. Baker & Co. from Belhaven, N.C., and 
charging adulteration in violation of the Food and Drugs Act.
It was alleged in the libel that the article was adulterated in that it consisted 
in whole or in part of a filthy and decomposed animal substance.
On November 6, 1933, no claimant having appeared for the property, judg- 
ment of condemnation and forfeiture was entered, and it was ordered by the 
court that the product be destroyed by the United States marshal.
